West Stand Development, Twickenham

Project Details

Following the success of the players’ facilities upgrade in 2013, the RFU asked us to look at transforming the prestigious VIP hospitality facilities and circulation routes at the heart of the West Stand using a continuation of the newly established design language.

The dramatic interior design themes and artwork interpret the flow and energy of the game and capture the “Spirit of Rugby”, and we worked closely with the World Rugby Museum to embed interesting historical facts, figures and memories into the fabric to create an exciting coherent journey from bars to restaurants to seats.

Completed in time for the 2013 Autumn Internationals, the refurbishment of the players’ facilities was one of a number of upgrade projects we undertook at the Twickenham Stadium, home of England Rugby.

We worked closely with the RFU’s elite training staff and coaching team to find the right inspirational themes and messages, and the enhanced England dressing room and players’ tunnel play a pivotal role in strengthening the home team’s identity and commitment.

Key features include an engraved heritage wall and horseshoe-shaped team lockers in dark stained oak, both incorporating a subtle application of the new England Rugby brand.
