Benenden School Boarding House Refurbishment

We are pleased to reveal the first phase of our boarding house refurbishment programme for Benenden School in Kent, one of the leading independent schools in the UK.

Our work included upgrading all dormitories and bathrooms alongside the creation of a new offering at Medway House dedicated to the Fourths, the youngest age group, with a new study space distinct from the dormitories. The improvements to Marshall House also included new facilities allowing the school to welcome Day Boarders for the first time.

Set within a 250-acre site, this historic school has a strong vision and ethos that we reflected and reinforced in the interior design, wayfinding, and environmental graphics from concept to delivery to welcome the students to their refurbished houses.

Anne Wakefield, Deputy Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care at Benenden School, said, “The Medway and Marshall House staff and pupils are absolutely delighted with their new houses. The end result is fantastic!”

KSS worked with Huntley Cartwright and Ash Contracting to a tight programme over last summer to complete these works for the start of the academic year and continue further phases in 2022.
