In 2008, we were proud to be selected alongside SKM and Wilkinson Eyre to design the Basketball & Handball Arena for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games.

The venue was the largest indoor temporary arena constructed for the Olympics, and provided 11,500 seats for the basketball and handball competitions, reducing to 9,800 seats for Paralympics wheelchair basketball and rugby.

Our brief was to create a compact and intimate arena seating bowl, and our solution pushed the boundaries of temporary seating design in terms of layout, comfort and sightlines, and gave the feel and atmosphere of a permanent venue.
