Celebration at Thurrock Campus
14 October 2015
South Essex College, Thurrock Campus celebrated its first birthday since opening in September 2014. KSS are proud of the final scheme, how the development is transforming South Grays and the improved statistics for students.
The key objective of the new Campus was to improve the public face of the College which was successfully achieved as Anthony McGarel, Deputy Principal and Chief Executive at South Essex College explains “Opening our new Thurrock Campus in Grays town centre has proved a great success. We’re settling in well at the modern complex; 16-18 student numbers have risen from 794 in 2013 to 1,145 today – an increase of 44%.”
The Campus has also proved to be a hit with the locals and wider demographic according to Anthony McGarel “The community impact and effect on the local area has been fantastic. New shops and businesses are opening in the centre to cater for the increased student population. The College’s restaurant, Waves, is also doing a booming trade providing a popular lunch time option for local people.”
We are delighted to have designed an inspiring, flexible and sustainable learning environment for the students of South Essex College which will act as a benchmark for future educational developments in the area.
