Contract signed for new NIA in Ireland
20 February 2015
This month, the National Sports Campus Development Authority (NSCDA) signed a construction contract for the National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Dublin, Ireland.
Awarded to Heron Buckingham JV and KSS, the phased delivery of the NIA is expected to be completed in 2016 providing a world class holistic training centre for elite, high-performance athletes.
With KSS’s successful background in sports training facilities and major venues we will be developing a full range of event overlays to extend the opportunity to host national and international competitions. The development sits in a wider National Sports Campus site master plan next to the National Aquatic Centre, which KSS also worked on in 2003.
The NIA facilities include a National Indoor Athletics Training Centre, National Gymnastics Training Centre, National Indoor Training Centre and covered synthetic pitches catering for over 20 multi-disciplinary sports. The development will also include ancillary changing and conditioning facilities.
The NIA will play a pivotal role in improving the national sporting infrastructure helping to drive the development of Irish Sport where young, aspiring athletes can fulfil their sporting potential.
