James completes Cycle to MIPIM 2017
27 March 2017
Congratulations to KSS Director James Budd who completed the full distance of the stunning cycle ride from London to the MIPIM property fair in Cannes, covering over 1500km.
Now in its 12th year, the Legal & General Real Assets Cycle to MIPIM is the industry’s largest multi-day cycling challenge with over 200 riders. A mix of professionals from more than 20 sectors took part in the Peloton representing a great cross-section of the property industry including investors, developers, lawyers, engineers and architects.
The 6-day cycle ride through Frances varied landscapes, wide-ranging temperatures and mixed weather conditions included early starts, long days and late finishes, but James was full of praise for the whole event and the experience “So many great memories and amazing camaraderie from such a wide range of cyclists on a great route in weather that spoiled us. I’m not sure what was most exhausting; the miles covered, the sleep deprivation or non-stop chatting with co-cyclists from 5am through to 10pm. The organisation was phenomenal and the experience afforded by the motorcycle out-riders was a privilege few will experience. I’ve had some great support and very generous sponsorship contributions which makes this event one of the most memorable I have ever undertaken. The longest day on the Sunday was 330km and in the last night leg into Beaune in pitch black, we agreed on the perfect pizza topping – it certainly didn’t include pineapple!”
It has been quite a journey for everyone involved; not least James, who missed last year’s Cycle to MIPIM 2016 after a paragliding accident a week before applications to be selected for the Peloton. It has been a long road to recovery, and everyone at KSS are delighted with his achievement and the funds raised with Club Peloton for the charity Coram.
KSS look forward to MIPIM 2018.
