KSS’ latest school in Kent completes
6 October 2017
This afternoon, our newest school in Kent, The Goodwin Academy officially opened in the bright autumnal sunshine.
Associate Juliet Hook attended the ceremony alongside Principal Simon Smith and current Goodwin Academy students and staff.
The new Academy is the first of two secondary schools to be completed with Kier Construction as part of the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP).
Goodwin Academy provides a 1000 place school for 11-16 year old students and 300 places for post 16-year-old students. The Academy includes state-of-the-art indoor sports facilities comprising a four-court multi-purpose sports hall, dance studio and fitness suite which are all available for local and community use.
Our designs adopt a contemporary rectangular ‘superblock’ with classrooms arranged equally over three floors. The new school provides a strong sense of enclosure, balancing light space and visual inspiration throughout creating an exciting and balanced environment for students. The modern and fresh facilities replicate the overall vision and mission of the Academy, ‘to enable all young people and adults of all backgrounds to become the best they can be personally and professionally’.
We look forward to our next school as part of the PSBP programme to complete, Meopham Secondary School in early 2018.
