KSS AT LONDON STADIUM AHEAD OF SOCCER AID

Ahead of Soccer Aid for Unicef at the London Stadium this Sunday 12 June, a team of players put the pitch to the test in a pre-event warm up to also raise monies for the charity.

KSS were invited to join in along with other consultants and contractors involved in the Stadium transition works for LS185.

It was a great experience to play on the super pitch – and without a stadium full of spectators, it gave a unique insight to the playing environment the home team experienced during COVID. The interesting observation from someone involved in grass roots football was definitely the quality of the playing surface, and the microclimate within the stadium bowl on a warm June day which noticeably lacked any significant wind movement; ideal for athletics but not so for non-elite players struggling to run in the humidity!

The football played was at one level very good and farcical at the other, but a lot of fun and all players involved will take away fond memories of the experience of playing at this terrific arena.
