Residents move into Cannon Road
18 May 2015
This month, residents began moving into the new affordable residential units at Cannon Road in north Tottenham.
Cannon Road is a medium density residential scheme for Newlon Housing Trust forming the first phase of a wider regeneration strategy for Tottenham. The development has transformed the area from light industrial to a major new residential quarter improving the social, cultural and economic character of the local area.
The development includes a 22 storey building providing 100 shared ownership residential units, 122 low rise homes for rent and a new 2 form reception and primary school accommodating 420 pupils. Substantial amenity space is provided in the form of private balconies, roof gardens and communal play areas.
KSS’ vision for the site was for it to be part of a vibrant, new community at the heart of the area’s ongoing regeneration. Cannon Road delivers this through high specification build and design providing a safe and rewarding urban streetscape encouraging community interaction and social cohesion in an area that has been previously overlooked.
KSS’ design builds on their previous work for Newlon Housing Trust in the local area at Hale Village and Northumberland Park with a set of buildings that responds to the local context and provides a rewarding environment for tenants and purchasers alike irrespective of tenure.
Haringey is home to one of the most important regeneration areas in London and KSS are proud to have been part of this ambitious residential development, the first step toward delivering a sustainable urban community around the significant sports and leisure proposals at Tottenham Hotspur FC that will be a source of inspiration for many years to come.
