Topping Out ceremony at LFC’s new Main Stand

Last week, Carillion plc held a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony at Anfield Stadium to mark the construction of the expanded Main Stand reaching its maximum height.

It is just over a year that construction work began on the expansion of the Main Stand, marking the beginning of another important chapter in the history of Liverpool FC.

KSS Chairman David Keirle attended the event alongside Phil Wakefield and Mark Nicholson, MD and Operations Director respectively of Carillion, Liverpool FC CEO Ian Ayre, First Team Manager Jürgen Klopp, and a host of Liverpool legends.

Guests were invited to sign a piece of steel that will be incorporated into the new Main Stand. After the event David said, “It was a great day and a real privilege to celebrate reaching this historic stage of the project with all the people who have been so instrumental in making it a reality. I can’t wait to watch a match in this amazing Stand”.

Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre added, “We have reached another important milestone in this fantastic project. We are absolutely delighted with the progress and are looking forward to having even more fans supporting the team at Anfield when the Main Stand opens next season. The expansion provides us with the opportunity to ensure that the rich history and traditions that make this stadium so special can continue for many years to come – none of which would have been possible without the incredible support we’ve received from our fans, partners, sponsors and the local community.”

The Main Stand Expansion is on target for completion later this year and is set to become one of the largest individual all seater stands in European football.
