Planning application for Aloft Hotel in Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion FC have submitted a joint planning application to Brighton & Hove City Council and Lewes District Council for a new £16m 150-bed hotel and specialist NHS cancer treatment centre.

The KSS-designed hotel will be known as Aloft Brighton and will be located next to the east stand of the award winning Amex Community Stadium, which was also designed by KSS and completed in 2012.

The three-storey hotel will be developed and owned by the club and will provide valuable on-site overnight stay for a range of football and non-football activities including conferencing, exhibitions and banqueting at the stadium. It will also provide visitor accommodation for football supporters coming to matches, and for business travellers using the adjacent A27. The exciting development will provide another community facility that provides social, employment and economic benefits for the local economy.

KSS have designed a hotel that is sensitive, complimentary and respectful of the location, with its scale, appearance and architectural language taking cues from the Stadium, whilst retaining its own individuality as a separate development. Twenty2Degrees designed the interiors, with the concourse frontage defined by planting that provides human scale between the stadium and hotel. Soft landscape is used to help the setting and to provide privacy in and around the hotel.

The planning application will be determined by Brighton & Hove City Council and Lewes District Council later this year.
